Department of Education (ED)
|
The
Department of Education (ED)
works to strengthen the federal commitment to ensuring access to equal educational opportunities for every individual. This is done by supplementing and complementing efforts to improve the quality of education by the states, the local school systems and other instrumentalities of the states, the private sector, public and private nonprofit educational research institutions, community-based organizations, parents, and students. ED encourages the increased involvement of the public, parents, and students in federal education programs and promotes improvements in the quality and usefulness of education through federally supported research, evaluation, and information sharing. ED works to improve the coordination of federal education programs and the management of federal education activities, as well as increase the accountability of federal education programs to the President, the Congress, and the public.
