Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is responsible for protecting the health of all Americans and providing services to everyone, especially those least able to help themselves. Through different agencies within HHS, issues are addressed that include research, disease prevention, food and drug safety, Medicare, financial assistance for low-income families, enforcement of child support, Head Start, prevention of substance abuse, services for older Americans, and health services.
